The Grand Siècle saw the emergence of the French Style, which left its mark on musical creation both in France and abroad. This stylistic evolution took place within the king’s ensembles (chamber, chapel, stable) and went hand in hand with a significant transformation of musical instruments, notably through the invention of the oboe, the transverse flute and the modern French horn.
